Social Responsibility

Wise Woman Herbals® has never wavered from its commitment to sustainability, stewardship of the earth and support the natural products' community. As our business has grown so has our social responsibility to our local community, the educational and professional organizations within the botanical and natural products industry, and the sustainability of our environment.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We are proud of the many community programs that we support in our hometown of Creswell, Oregon. We provide financial support for the Creswell Food Pantry which offers meals to our community members in need of nutritious food. We also donate to Womenspace of Creswell, which provides resources for women surviving domestic abuse.

EDUCATION

Wise Woman Herbals is recognized for its enthusiastic support of medical programs and students training to be future healthcare professionals throughout the U.S. We sponsor many Community Outreach Clinics affiliated with medical universities, 501 c3 non-profit clinics, and trade associations offering continuing education on the state and national level. These efforts help to support the Naturopathic, Acupuncture, and Chiropractic professions.

ORGANIZATIONS

Wise Woman Herbals donates an estimated 3% of our annual revenue in products to organizations that help impoverished, underserved, and unhoused communities within Oregon.  These organizations include Occupy Medical, which provides medical care to the unhoused population in the Eugene-Springfield area of Oregon, Herbalists Without Borders, Nature Nurture Pharmacy, a clinic in Washington that serves low-income rural communities, and various other non-profit clinics around the country.

Additionally, we support state and national associations that continue to advance naturopathic and herbal medicine.  These include, but are not limited to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), Naturopathic Medicine Institute (NMI), American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), The American Botanical Council, The American Herbalists Guild (AHG), and United Plant Savers.

SUSTAINABILITY

Wise Woman Herbals' extensive sustainability policies and procedures incorporated consistently with the mantra "reduce, reuse, and recycle" are designed to minimize our company's carbon footprint. Every WWH employee is encouraged to help implement innovative practical procedures that will help to reduce waste from the production stream and reuse items that might normally end up in a landfill. Our spent plant material is composted and we also emphasize paperless practices in an administrative capacity. We have been recognized for our efforts in this realm and received numerous awards for our dedication to sustainability and protecting the environment.

Wise Woman Herbals is also dedicated to support of small local organic farms within our community of the Pacific Northwest. We work with local farmers and wild crafters to cultivate and harvest the best quality plants for use in our products and this partnership ensures the sustainability of these plants for future generations.
